This morning's walk, first a praying mantis on the side of the house- they are strangely brownish here, I guess because of the landscape.
Sky facing across the street from our house:
And the beach itself at low tide.
We took the best break from work today! We knew the tide was high at about 2:00, so we went to the beach and we all had a swim! Carl had his first full-body dip in the Sea of Cortez and proclaimed it, "Delightful!". Shadow was concerned with our swimming abilities and hovered around us like a mother hen. We had to be sure he didn't wear himself out protecting us in chest-deep (to us) water.
We got a lot of mail, including my new shorts, my Spanish English dictionary and the part for our BBQ! Carl built the BBQ, I bought some beautiful T-Bones, and they're waiting for me now. Bye!
and...they were awesome! I know, I'm not cooking Mexican, and I feel appropriately guilty. I'll get into it again soon, it's only that I can make a Greek salad with my eyes closed, but to make a cactus-pad salad I have to check the recipe, make sure I have all the ingredients, etc. etc. So the recipes will be made, in fact I have a carne asada recipe coming soon, and now that the BBQ is in place, more fish is going to be seen. Bass is imminent!
Glad everyone survived the hurricane with minimal damage!

We used to have a fishmonger come in on the bus from Whatabambito twice a week when we were in Alamos and he carried his fish all over Alamos in a cooler with a strap on his back. It was delicious and I was so disappointed when he only had shrimp. One thing I did learn to make was tortillas mostly carne oink oink as Larry called them. Quite a lot of work but worth the time. My favorite Mexican food. Try them warm with a poached egg on top. Outstanding!!!!!!!!! The hurricane was not a big event in Port Maitland either even though it said it came ashore just north of Yarmouth which would be us. No power loss and just some leaves down not even a branch.
Sorry guess my head is still fuzzy from the surgery. It was Tamales carne oink oink I learned to make not Tortillas.
Great to hear from you, Shirl!! What a fast recovery-although I know you're not full recovered, but to be home and on the computer already is pretty impressive.
Tamales oink oink sounds delicious! I do like tamales-what kind of salsa did you serve them with?
Hi, where is my Tuesday update? I am missing my Mexican fix! I have been eating eggs with salsa for 2 days waiting for your update.
Rhonda
jeez, pushy much? Just eat yer eggs. :)
Always use Salsa Picante but Salsa Picante in Canada is like mild Salsa in Mexico. When we get there we will stock up. Got quite a kick out of Shadow and his bum sniffing. I guess he has learned that Mexico is full of packs of wild dogs and they are nothing to fool around with. I am getting along pretty well. Staples out on Friday but still have to sit around for another 7 weeks. Good thing it isn't summer so I don't mourn so about my garden. Am going to start doing some outside walking, I hope next week. Don't forget to have a great swim for me once in a while. I have been in that water and swam with the pelicans and the little fish around my feet at San Carlos. Neat. The weather should be getting down to a comfortable stage now. Wish we were there with you.
