Beautiful Sunday

I don't want to spend too much time at this today, but we met a few local Americans yesterday, and I will be trying out an online newspaper with one of them. Ordered pizza in last night.

Today is a little cloudy, and when we went down to the beach with Shadow, coming around the corner my jaw dropped. The sea was completely calm, and reflecting the clouds it looked like a sheet of silver. There was one lone shrimp boat out. It was incredible.

After we had thrown the football for Shadow enough, we walked back to the car. The sun came out over the old port, and half the sea changed from silver to myriad shades of blue, while the sea near us remained pewter.

While out, we saw a local come along and poke in the tide pools with a stick. We asked what he was catching, and he said, "little octopus". We didn't see him get any, but cool!!

There was quite a bit of action in the tide pools today, snails walking along, little shrimp I think, and apparently octopus! There is a bird walk coming on December 13, I really want to go on that to learn a little more about the local aviary scene.

I learned a little about Mexican Christmas today as well, I can't wait. I quote: "The celebrations start 9 days before Christmas on Dec 16, with the traditional Posadas. Nine consecutive days of candlelight processions in which familes get together to reenact the Holy Family's quest for lodging in Bethlehem. The organizers often choose a little girl to be the Virgin Mary, sometimes perched on a live burro...The little procession will go to a prearranged house in the neighborhood and everyone outside sings...the people inside will respond...The door of the house will open and everyone will go inside singing and the party starts. " The piƱata is broken at the end of the party.

Feliz Navidad!

Guess whose house has been "pre-arranged" for this year's festivities? How's your tenor?

I can't sing a note, and Carl says he's basso if anything, like 4 notes. Could be a difficult time!

Don't ever leave the house without your camera again!
