Beach day

We've been working hard on the restaurant website this last few weeks, and haven't taken a full day off. This morning when we took Shadow down for his swim, Carl did his bobbing in the waves time, then I did mine. When I came back in, I said, "Let's drop Shadow off, come back and do that for two hours." Carl agreed, so we did just that. Rented a canopy, sat at a table and read, alternating with bobbing in the waves. The waves were great today. When you get out a ways, it feels like you're climbing a wall of water (probably only a 3 foot wave), then dropping into the trough, you actually get a little tummy rush. Then of course you can ride the waves in.

People say I'm getting quite brown, you decide. Not the best picture, I swear I just cleaned that mirror on Friday...

I saw these cool bushes the other day, I have no idea how they do this.

We've tried out the Chitzen Itza restaurant, and it's a hit! We went there for lunch yesterday. The pibil tacos were superb. Slow roasted pork with cinnamon and other spices, served with pickled peppers (yum, I ate mine and Carl's) and hot pickled onion.

Spanish lessons are going well, I guess, hard to tell after only two. Tomorrow's the next one, time to study!

The waves sound great. We have been so busy with the house this summer no time for beach although we took our camper to Brazil lake for a few days and hope to get few more. Having a bonfire at John's Cove tomorrow night with hot dogs. Temperature is great the last few days, mid 20's with a little fog in the morning and cooling off in the evening so we have a cool side to the pillow. Halifax if having 30-32 and they are finding it quite warm which it is for NS. Have a great day and a few rides on the waves for me. Shirl

Thanks, Shirl! I have to say the weather there sounds pretty chilly to me, but of course that's why we moved to Mexico. We're comfortable in the house when it's around 30 (and that feels really cool when you come inside).

But the humidity and heat have been much lower this last few days, everyone's commenting on it, it's quite comfortable for us right now at 35 degrees and 60% humidity.

A bonfire does sound nice, I must say! That's something they do here on Christmas Eve, did they do that in Alamos?

We always had a big bonfire when we were at the Children's home on Christmas night and put off firecrackers and when we moved into Alamos all the churches we worked with had special outdoor meals with bonfires during the week before Christmas. Because we worked with so many and they all wanted us to come they each picked a different night and it was pig out for the Stephens all week. They could afford only one large get together a year with food and that is when they chose to have it. It was really special and the food very simple native Mexican. Shirl

Ooooh, I love the picture of the ocean. Very inviting. Sounds like a good way to wile away a morning. We're gonna have to invest in some water toys. (Because playing with water toys is okay, but wearing water wings isn't)
And yes, you are getting brown!
Glad to hear the lessons are going well. I do envy you the daily opportunity practicar.
