First, an update on the storm and the aftermath of the broken window.
It took a big toll on sand banks, but there's ready filler available:
We had some leaks. No problem, shortly after this Ed built us the new roof he's been promising!
We have a new hole in the backyard that Carl's going to plant a shade tree in.
The wind was really, really strong! It blew the Circle K sign over. Unfortunately, we didn't get to have a very long visit with our friends Karen and Dave. They came down from Laughlin, got to have a Mary's shrimp Taco and look at the ocean, then the storm blew in. We had some laughs and caught up that evening, and the next day they had to drive for the states before they got flooded in.
It was also great having Paul here!! He stayed for a while, sharpened my knives (my knives miss you, Paul!), did some other projects around the house for us, and was a lot of fun to visit with!
Now, the replacement window arrived after a couple of months, but in order to install it, they had to drill out a bunch of concrete.
Oswaldo, of course, had a guy here within an hour who patched the concrete up. He did a fantastic job! And Oswaldo himself will come by Saturday and patch the plaster, and then we'll paint and bad bing bada boom, new window. That's Oswaldo's dad on the other side of the window above, he replaced the spring on the driver's side of our car over the front tire. It's been broken since Calgary, but our mechanic in Calgary said it would cost over $1000 to fix. Oswaldo's dad did it in a day for 600 pesos. I'm not doing the exchange rate for you people anymore, look it up! :)
After all that, we bought ourselves some new dishes to cheer ourselves up.
Here are Carol's pictures, in no particular order. Carol and her friend (and now our friend) Tracy came down for ten days, and were excellent guests. I took some time off and we had a blast.

Hi Mel and Carl,
Great to see a new blog we have been wondering what is going on in Paradise. Not what is going on here. Snow and rain and cold winds and more snow but it is March so it should soon be over. I have drooled over the beach and swimming pictures and willed myself there but it doesn't work. I would go swimming in February it can't be colder than Port Maitland beach in July. Guess you have acclimatized to the Mexico weather. So glad to see pictures of you both. Mel you look like you have lost a lot of weight. Miss you and love you both.

Thanks to Carol for all the pictures, she and Tracy were at the beach every day. They both went back with admirable tans and I'm sure they were envied. Hope we'll see you both down here one year soon!
Sorry we didn't get to meet Karen & Dave, but that monsoon really messed up their visit. They were wise to make a get-away while they could.
We did, however, thoroughly enjoy Paul's and Carol & Tracy's company!

Honoured to have the photos used - thanks to Garrison who did the voodoo magic getting them off the camera and on their way to Mexico. It was a fabulous visit with huge thanks to such gracious hosts and their friends who welcomed us warmly. A real stress free environment with Mel and Carl to "show us the ropes" and entertain in style. The tan is fading but not the memories! Looking forward to seeing Cheryl, Dan and Twix soon.
